PARENT/GUARDIAN QUESTIONS
My student is busy! Can I help by signing up my student myself?
Sure! Just go to the student sign up registration page and enter your student’s personal and loan information.
I can’t find the loan statement for my Dept. of Education Direct Loan (Fed. Student Aid). Where can I find the loan information you need online ?
Go to www.dl.ed.gov and sign in to your account. On the side column, for your account information, click on Account Summary and save, copy or print the page. For the payment mailing address, click on Payoff Amount page, also on the side column and save, copy or print.
When registering my student, should I enter my email address or my student’s?
Either one is fine. Just remember, further instructional emails will be automatically sent to the email address you list, so if you want to complete the student’s sign up then we suggest you list your email address. Your student can always make changes to their account later.
What happens if I choose to enter my student’s email?
First of all, make absolutely sure it is their current email and that it is entered correctly.
- After registration, an email is immediately sent to the student with instructions on the next step: sending us a copy of the loan statement.
- After we receive the loan statement and are able to verify the information has been entered correctly, they will receive another email which includes an activation link.
- After clicking the link, they will immediately receive a final email reminding them of their user name and password so they can log on to Lily’s List.
My student’s account number is also their social security number. I don’t want to list that number for security reasons. What now?
Click on the link next to the account number field for options.
What are the steps of Registration?
Registration is easy and takes about five minutes.
- Fill out Registration and pay for membership.
- An email is immediately sent to the email address you entered on the registration page, with instructions on how to send a copy of the loan statement for verification.
- After we receive the loan statement and are able to verify the student, another email is sent which includes an activation link. Click on the link to receive a final email which will remind the new member of their user name and password to log on to Lily’s List.
Parents, if you listed your email address on the registration page then the user name and password will be sent to you. Remember to forward the user name and password to your student. After they log in they will be able to change their email and password. (they will not be able to change the user name however)
What if I never get an email after I register?
This will mean one of several things:
- you entered your student’s email address and the notification emails went to him or her
- you entered an address that is no longer active
- you entered the address incorrectly.
If you entered your email but did not immediately receive an email from us, please contact us at: info@lilyslist.com or call 708-443-3374.

To cover expenses such as hosting this site, member loan account verification, and processing fees.
Are there any hidden membership fees?
No. There are no other membership fees beyond the annual $15.00 membership.
How long is the membership period?
One year from the date you are approved for membership. We will send you a reminder two weeks before your membership expires asking if you would like to renew.
How do you verify that a student member actually has a legitimate school loan?
To complete registration, potential members are required to send us a copy of a current statement from their bank or loan agency complete with full name, account number and balance due. This information will be strictly confidential and used only for loan verification and proper routing of donations.
When you say you need a copy of my loan statement, what do you mean exactly?
All we need is a copy of a recent loan statement or payment coupon or something you can print out online from your bank or loan agency that shows the date, your name, account number, amount owed, and bank mailing address.
Why do you need a copy of my loan statement?
The only reason we ask for a copy of your monthly loan statement is to double-check your information so we can be absolutely positive there are no mistakes. We want to ensure that the loans are legitimate and that gift donations get to the right place.
Where do I find the loan information you need online for my Dept. of Education Direct Loan (Fed. Student Aid)?
Go to www.dl.ed.gov and sign in to your account. On the side column, for your account information, click on Account Summary and save, copy or print the page. For the payment mailing address, click on Payoff Amount page, also on the side column and save, copy or print.
My loan account number is also my social security number. I don’t want to list that number for security reasons. What now?
Click on the link next to the account number field for options.
How do I send you my loan account statement for verification?

What if my loan statement is not verified by Lily’s List?
If we are unable to verify your loan statement we will explain why and give you a chance to correct the problem. If we are still unable to verify your statement, your membership fee of $15 will be refunded in full.
If I decide to cancel my membership, can I get a refund?
No. After we have verified your loan, your membership fee of $15 is non-refundable.
How do you prevent scams?
Donations are always deposited directly to a student loan account and never sent to a member. We will always verify that a loan is held by a legitimate bank or loan agency before forwarding any monetary gifts to a member’s account.
Can I use Lily’s List to pay back a loan from an individual or business that is not a bank or loan institution?
No.
Will a donation sent to my account replace my monthly payment?
No. You are responsible for maintaining your own payment requirements. Deposits made to your account are considered ‘extra’ and will be deposited to interest or principal depending on current loan status. You may confirm deposits with your bank, or loan agency and should expect to see them listed on your loan statements.
How long does it take for payment to be made to my loan account?
3-10 business days from the day it is received.
Will I have to report gifts as income on my taxes?
Probably not, but tax laws vary so please consult your tax accountant for answers based on your specific tax requirements.
How are Students of the Week Chosen?
Students of the Week are randomly selected every Monday. You could be next!
