Interest: I love languages--I speak German and Latin, and look forward to learning Spanish and (hopefully) Italian. Singing in the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale (the choir of St. Agnes Catholic Church in St. Paul) is one of my favorite weekly activities. I like talking about God, philosophy, and great books, among other things. My favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, and Brian Jacques.
About Me:
I just graduated from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and have been accepted for admission to the St. Paul Seminary this fall as a candidate for the priesthood. During law school, I felt a persistent desire to explore a vocation to the Catholic priesthood. I almost dropped out of law school at the end of my second year so that I could enter seminary and begin more intense discernment immediately, but it seemed prudent to finish the law degree first, since I had already finished two out of the three years necessary to get the JD.
This summer I am working full-time for a professor at the law school. If God calls me to the priesthood, the entire seminary curriculum would take about 6 years to finish. I will be unable to work once seminary begins, and so I will have no way to keep the unsubsidized portion of my student loans ($20,000) from accruing interest during seminary.
Please pray for me, that God would make it clear whether He is calling me to serve Him as a priest, and that I would have the courage to respond to His call. If you are able to contribute financially in order to keep the interest from piling up on my loans, it would be a great blessing.
Thank you, and may God bless us with the grace to love Him with our whole heart!
In Christ,
Paul Haverstock
