I am a loving dad of 2 teenage girls, who my wife and I hope to send to college beginning in 2014. Unfortunately, we are paying off such a huge student loan debt of our own that we will not be able to pay for their college education given our current repayment situation. We want to avoid taking out loans for them because they have nothing of their own yet and quite simply we cannot afford to take on additional debt should they be unable to repay. We are working as hard as possible, scrimping and saving, and want to be able to support them so that they can pursue their dreams. Repaying our student loan first means we can save our hard-earned money and send them to college the way we prefer to do, with our own earnings.
