Hello Everyone! Back in February of 2010 I finally received my License to teach Social Studies to grades 9-12; my lifelong dream! Unfortunately, due to budget cuts and a very high unemployment rate right now, I am still searching for a school to snatch me up. For those of you who don't already know, I am currently working as a full time supervisor at Cost Plus World Market to keep my lights on. While retail can be fun and occasionally challenging, this interim career choice is, as most of you know, not particularly rewarding to my personal finances. So, against my relentless pride and with a little nudging from loved ones, I have decided to create this page to seek out a little assistance. During three of my four undergraduate years I worked full time to help pay for school and the cost of living while studying. This was obviously not enough to completely support my expensive thirst for knowledge, so I chose to take out student loans like most people my age. Once I moved on to graduate school, I was awarded financial aid through federal student loans. Thankfully because of the career dream I have chosen, the country has graciously decided to forgive most of those federal loans...but not until I am a real teacher! So for now, I have been slowly trying to pay back those pesky undergraduate loans. This is where you come in. This site is designed to help me pay down my student loan debt as a gift registry. Although I am responsible for making my regular loan payments, this site encourages me to be disciplined in another way; by directing future gifts to go directly into my student loan account. (Instead of into my pocket where it’s bound to be spent on less important stuff.) For any of you who have ever thought of giving me a gift for any reason, I implore you to consider this route. This has been a very humbling experience for me and I know whole heartedly that without all of your support, I never could have gotten this far. I just hope that this site may be another way to continue your encouragement for me to be the best educator I can be.
